Spalding’s Alumni Leadership Council strives to organize Spalding University alumni, cultivate connections, and increase alumni engagement. The ALC identifies opportunities to ensure alumni stay connected with the university, the community, and one another.

The ALC recognizes the diverse population of Spalding alums. Working hand in hand with the Office of Advancement and school based alumni groups, the ALC has to be creative and innovative in its approach to connect with alumni, plan events, solicit feedback, and deliver messages that resonate with the alumni base.

By connecting with alumni and emphasizing that Spalding is invested in them and their success, the ALC helps inspire alumni who want to give back to Spalding by:
  • committing resources;
  • demonstrating leadership;
  • sharing expertise;
  • volunteering;
  • celebrating Spalding University as a place and a people who play an integral role within the larger community.

James "KJ" Abrams ‘18

James "KJ "Abrams serves as the Chair of the Alumni Leadership Council. He is honored to serve as the chair and work with such a diverse group of prestigious alumni. KJ is dedicated to growing Spalding's alumni engagement through diversity, events, and community service. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Accounting and a Master's in Business Communication of Organizational Leadership. KJ is the Owner of O & O (One And Only) in his professional career. O & O is a Sports and Urban clothing brand he started after overcoming depression. In addition to the clothing line, O & O teaches financial literacy, gives back to the community, sponsors sports teams, and hosts music entertainment shows. In addition to owning O & O, KJ is a Community Engagement Specialist at SummerWorks, a mentor, and basketball coach. He is excited about returning to Spalding and continuing his involvement through the Alumni Leadership Council.

Rebecca serves as the Secretary of the Alumni Leadership Council.  She holds a strong passion for higher education and for Spalding. Rebecca graduated in 2013 after receiving an associate and bachelor’s in business and then finally ended her educational journey with a Master of Science in Business and Communications in 2013. Having worked as an Administrative Assistant in the College of Education and them moving to the Spalding University Bookstore as the Store Manager she knows Spalding from several different angles.  During her time at Spalding, she was Awarded the Metroversity Staff member of the year award. Currently, Rebecca works at the University of Louisville as a Program Coordinator in Cancer Research. She is very excited to work with the Alumni Leadership Council in assisting to move Spalding University forward to meet their goals in Higher Education.
